My black capped conure makes a noise that sounds likes a metal detector. How can I teach him not to do this?

My black capped conure makes a noise every 6 seconds that sounds likes a metal detector. He starts at 8 am and will do this for hours. How can I teach him not to do this? My neighbors have complained and I don’t know what to do.

He’s probably bored. Making the noise is something to do. If it irritates you and you react, that’s fun.

When there is alot of commontion in the room and we ignore him maybe even tell him to “SHUSH UP!” my black capped will make that noise. I’ve only heard it a couple of times, but it sure is un pleasing. What I do is give him food, or something to forge for his food. While eating he will be busy, and forging will take his mind off of it. Good luck :)
