In grade school we always cleaned coins with lemon juice – but it may be to acidic for old coins. Maybe you should find a coin collector store and ask them.

Some coins lose their value in re-sale if you clean them. Call a coin company and find out for sure.

place in a laundry bag and throw in the washer
