Metal Detecting Questions:
Could a Banyan tree and or Fig tree withstand being under water for 40 days and 40 nights?
If one was under water that long could it still be alive when the waters receded?
Lots of plants survive in the ocean without a lot of Sunlight.
No. They would literally drown. (Plants breathe too.)
By the way, if you’re referring to Noah’s flood, keep in mind that the earth was supposedly submerged for a *lot* longer than 40 days and 40 nights. The *rains* lasted that long, but the Genesis account is quite clear that the earth did not dry for at least 314 days (almost a year) … and Noah and the animals stayed in the Ark for a little over a year. Just the logistics of having to find, load, and store enough food and fresh water for all the world’s species for one year (without the food spoiling) is yet another of many (along with the trees and plants surviving a year underwater) reasons why trying to build a scientific case for Noah’s Flood story being *LITERALLY* true shows that *literalism* is a sure way to reduce the Bible to absurdity.
>”Lots of plants survive in the ocean without a lot of Sunlight.”
No. Sorry. They don’t. Plants need light.
