Digger More

Metal Detecting Questions:

Are there any ways to tell if a person is a gold digger?

Obviously, when a person asks you to spend money on them, wants you to shower him/her with gifts and is more into your material possessions than yourself, you can easily tell that s/he is a gold digger. But, what are some of the more subtle signs of a skilled gold digger – the gold diggers who aren’t so obvious?

Are there any clever tests that you can come up with to see if a person is a gold digger or not?

Please share your ideas.

Give a few gifts in a row that are inexpensive, but from the heart and see what she thinks. Many women are happy to get the $7.99 bunch of flowers from the grocery store. Give her those instead of long stem roses and see how she reacts. See if you can make a meal instead of going to a nice restaurant.

You could also act like you’re short on money. Find a way to show that your expenses increased and that it’s cutting into date money and she if she bolts.

Metal Detecting Questions:

I live in the state of FL, Is it illegal for a bounty hunter to break into you’re home when no one is home?

also draw a gun on you, when your not the person there looking for. Also would i be responsible for any damage done to my home by a bounty hunter.

Actually in states that allow, “bounty hunters,” unlike other law enforcement, bounty hunters/bail enforcement agents do not need a search warrant to enter a home. If they believe a fugitive is hiding out in the home, they can enter. They are also permitted to carry weapons in the state of Florida.

Florida law does not allow, “free-lance,” bounty hunting. Bail enforcement agents are permitted to work for one, and only one, bonding agent at any given time. The cannot hire themselves out to multiple bail bonding agencies.

Whether the individual they were looking for was a relative, roommate, etc. they obviously had reason to believe someone was in your home. Only you know the details as to why and how they identified your place of residence as suspect. If you’re questioning their purpose and/or have concerns regarding the damage done to your home, contact the bonding agency and get more details.

Metal Detecting Questions:

What’s a good/cheap rifle for a first time deer hunter that would be easy to find in stores?

maybe a link to one in Cabellas or Bass Pro’s website would remove any chance of confusion.

You have many good options. I’d suggest taking a trip to WalMart or Big 5 Sporting Goods (or similar). They always have the very popular basic (less expensive) models, and usually the most popular calibers. They both have great prices and can offer layaway, if cost is an issue. That way you can get your hands on it and feel how it handles in your hands.

You can also check Gunbroker.com and Buds Gun Shop online store, if you already know you like the model of gun. If you order online, and then don’t like the way it feels in your hands — it’s a little too late. Cabelas.com is very good as well, but you’ll get better prices on Gunbroker.com if you are buying online. Go to a gun store first, and handle a few Remington 700′s, Savage’s, or lever action Marlins — the 336 or 1895 models, before you decide.

I would suggest either the Remington 700, or a Savage bolt action — either in .270, .30-06, 7mm Magnum. Those are two of the most popular and well-liked rifles, and the three calibers are all well liked and popular as well. If you go into a WalMart or Big 5, these are the more affordable models you’ll see, and likely the calibers you will find them in. Probably in the $300 to $500 range.

Treasure Hunter

Metal Detecting Questions:

Is Indiana Jones an Archaeologist or a treasure Hunter?

In my class we were discussing this.

An Archaeologist is a person who will record everything they can about the artifact they found, But he just blows everything up.

He would be a treasure Hunter…

Wouldn’t he?

His attitude is typical of archaeologists of his time period. Well, the first couple of movies, anyway. The Indiana movies take places in the 1930s and 1940s, and a lot of archaeologists considered themselves adventurers as well as scientists. It was a good way to cloud objectivity and it really caused some problems. Archaeologists today are much more scientists than they were back then.

So for the 1930s, he would have been a passable archaeologist, except for the shooting and explosions and ghosts.

If he were around today he would have lost tenure, at the very least, for the stunts he’s pulled. Archaeologists are much more aware today of indigenous people and their ownership of their cultural heritage. He’d be branded a thief in 2009, and he’d be lucky if that’s all that happened to him.

But the movies tend to deal more with legendary, supernatural subjects, and so things get a little cloudy. Indy’s activities have a moral tint to them, more often than not, and so he comes out looking a little cleaner than a normal person might.
