I am going out west in June and would like to use my new detector if for nothing else but fun. Hopefully I will find a coin or piece of jewelry. Anyone know of good places to hunt for such things?

Metal Detecting Questions:

I live in the state of FL, Is it illegal for a bounty hunter to break into you’re home when no one is home?

also draw a gun on you, when your not the person there looking for. Also would i be responsible for any damage done to my home by a bounty hunter.

Actually in states that allow, “bounty hunters,” unlike other law enforcement, bounty hunters/bail enforcement agents do not need a search warrant to enter a home. If they believe a fugitive is hiding out in the home, they can enter. They are also permitted to carry weapons in the state of Florida.

Florida law does not allow, “free-lance,” bounty hunting. Bail enforcement agents are permitted to work for one, and only one, bonding agent at any given time. The cannot hire themselves out to multiple bail bonding agencies.

Whether the individual they were looking for was a relative, roommate, etc. they obviously had reason to believe someone was in your home. Only you know the details as to why and how they identified your place of residence as suspect. If you’re questioning their purpose and/or have concerns regarding the damage done to your home, contact the bonding agency and get more details.

Ellis K asked:

Of course, logically you know to ask if you on someones property. For instance if I was in the country-side just exploring with it – is it illegal? I don’t want to do wrong, Poland has much to offer in the way of history and I thought metal detecting would be fun and interesting.
For the freak below me, “adiot” , do you mean “idiot” – I think you took too many painkillers! Please, serious answers only. Thank you
