Metal Detecting Questions:

I am seeking older Arabian jewelry for Belly Dancing as well as history on same. Help?

I am especially in jewelry made from coins and in headdresses. Not too expensieve, this is for use/not display.

You can try http://www.aleynajewelry.com/ they have a lot of the Mediterranean eye jewelry. I think that might fit your taste..

Good luck

Metal Detecting Questions:

What is the best metal detector, prices and where can i get 1?

—PS—

You are a loser

The answer depends on ground conditions in your area, the type of sites you intend to hunt and how deep your pockets are.

All of the major manufacturers offer entry level detectors which are relatively low in price to get you started but if you’re looking for deep objects and a detector that gives you information on target type, depth, etc…, it’ll cost you a little more. If you’re very serious about this hobby, in my opinion you’re better off with a higher end machine that you can grow into instead of upgrading down the road.

If you have a local dealer you should either stop in or give them a call with some of your questions and they should be able to help, plus they can probably point you to a spot or two to get your feet wet. If there are none in your area you can always drop in at any of the online forums that are related to the hobby. I’ll leave you a link to one that I know you’ll find answers to a lot of your questions.

I use a Fisher F75 that I just got this past summer and finally moving up to the newer technology has really paid off for me. This detector isn’t cheap but I saved around 400.00 by buying a near new used model on Ebay. I was able to use a friends F75 for a few hunts and I knew it was the right one to buy but again I used it in the field first. I loved it’s light weight, power, information it gave me, low operating cost and ability to change modes and settings on the fly.

There are many good models out there to consider but I do recommend sticking to the main brands like Fisher, Whites, Tesoro, Garrett and Minelab. Teknetics also has some new models out that have gotten some pretty decent reviews.

If you have any more questions stop in the forum or leave me (mikewaz) a pm and I’ll be glad to help you out.

Good luck!
Mike
