What is the best radar detector?
I looking for the best radar detector for under 400 dollars. Anything besides the Valentine 1. I have looked at the Escort Passport 8500. If you have it or something let me know about it. Also if you have any sort of one tell me if they actualy work or if they are a waste of my money.
I have the 8500 x50 and it is a great radar detector. It has saved me many times. After having one for years I don’t understand why more people don’t have them. Even if you don’t speed much they can be very useful in preventing tickets.
Yes, they do work quite well. You must understand that just because you have one that you will know whenever there is a cop. You must realize you are not invincible with it. It is a tool that will help to prevent you from getting a ticket. I have never had it not detect a cop using radar or laser. However, there are times when it will detect the signal too late for you to do something about it (especially true with laser). But if you use it correctly they are well worth the money.
If you think about it, the cost of one of these radar detectors is about as much as 1 or 2 tickets. Mine has already saved that many times and thus paid for itself.
I have exprience with the Valentine V1 as well and think it is even a better unit. It has a slightly better range then the 8500 x50. Is there any reason you don’t like it? The arrows are very nice to have.
