I do not know anyone that made a lot of money but if you do your
homework it may be a slightly profitable hobby. There is always
hope for more!
The Ace 250 from Garrett is most likely what you are looking for.
I believe it is quite good has most features and sensivity it is comparable to 1k detectors (just missing high level imaging functions)
and will only be about 225usd. Good Luck!

There’s lots of places. Find a club in the area you’re going, you can do a search on this prior to making your trip. If by chance you end up in Arizona by all means steer clear of Arizona State Lands. There’s parks, lake beaches, just about any place that people go is a good place to take a metal detector.

Really, all you need is a tool to scoop up whatever you detect. I use an old french fry strainer for the sand. Most detectors have a speaker and a shovel or knife is unnecessary. Have fun.

Found a diamond once. Not a big one, but it was from a necklace so the detector picked up the metal backing.
